Tata Group Freshwater Replenishment Framework
A workshop on the Tata Group Freshwater Replenishment Framework was conducted in collaboration with ERM to build a shared understanding of the framework and its practical application across Tata sites. The workshop saw participation from multiple Tata companies.
The session opened with remarks from the Group Chief Sustainability Officer, Mr. Chacko Thomas, who outlined the objectives of the framework and expressed appreciation for the active participation of the companies involved. This was followed by a detailed walkthrough of the framework, including site classification, target setting, and approaches to boundary definition.
Participants were then guided through basin- and catchment-level risk screening and prioritisation exercises, which led into discussions on selecting appropriate replenishment interventions and identifying suitable implementation partners.
In the latter half of the workshop, the focus shifted to monitoring and maintenance, benefit estimation, and internal and external reporting requirements. The session concluded with a scenario-based group activity in which participants developed indicative site-level roadmaps, reinforcing the end-to-end application of the framework.
Overall, the workshop deepened participants’ understanding of the Tata Group Freshwater Replenishment Framework and fostered alignment across companies on its practical implementation. By combining technical guidance with collaborative exercises, the session reinforced the Group’s collective commitment to water replenishment and set the stage for consistent and measurable action across diverse sites.
Tata CEO Climate Bootcamp
On January 16th, 2025, TSG hosted an exclusive, day-long Climate Bootcamp in Mumbai, specifically designed for Tata CEOs. This program aimed to engage top leadership in planning both near and long-term strategic responses to the increasing demand for climate action-oriented institutional policies and operations. The event saw the participation of 15 CEOs who engaged in productive, interactive, and engaging discussions.
The bootcamp provided a comprehensive understanding of the current and future key impacts of climate change on the Indian industry. It delved into the direct implications for business operations and the broader economy, as well as the effects on quality of life and productivity. The session was well-received by the CEOs, who provided very positive feedback. They also offered valuable inputs and suggestions for future sessions, highlighting the importance and relevance of such initiatives.
The knowledge partner for this program was the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW).
Board Training
TSG also conducted a virtual ESG Program for Tata Board members, titled “The Board’s Role in Driving Sustainability.” This program was delivered in two modules. The first module focused on understanding the general concepts and areas encompassing “ESG & Sustainability,” while the second session addressed “Climate Change & Biodiversity.”
Recognizing the increasing role of Boards in driving the sustainability agenda of companies, TSG designed these interactive virtual sessions to update Tata Board members on the latest developments in sustainability. The goal was to help them effectively navigate the complexities of the current global business environment.
Each session saw the participation of about 40 board members from 16 different Tata companies, making it an engaging and interactive program. The knowledge partner for this initiative was the Canada-based Competent Boards.
