MEET THE TSG TEAM
Alka Upadhyay
AVP – Environment Services

Alka heads the Environment Services Team, and is responsible for promoting environmental sustainability across the Tata group of companies by driving various initiatives such as Water Footprint Assessment, Low Carbon strategy and Energy management, Natural Capital Valuation and concept of Circularity. Her work essentially involves providing advisory to Tata companies which entails seeking out and meeting C-suite executives, identifying and developing improvement plans and securing senior-level commitment for their implementation.
She is a metallurgist by discipline, and has spent over 14 years in the steel industry. She has been responsible for conceptualisation and facilitation of technological improvements in the area of iron making in Tata Steel. She has been felicitated with the Young Metallurgist award in 2005 in ferrous category by the Ministry of Steel. Alka is also a Harvard Business School alumna.
She has over 7 years of experience in Climate Change and Sustainability. Before joining the Tata Sustainability Group, she was a part of the Climate Change and Sustainability cluster at Tata Quality Management Services.
She enjoys reading biographies and fiction, and running half marathons.
Ajit Chaudhuri
AVP – Community Services

Ajit is part of the community services and disaster response teams within TSG. He had earlier worked in the development sector, starting with an NGO in western Rajasthan, and then with donor agencies and consulting organisations. He had also set up a disaster response unit at the India Today group, where he worked on relief and rehabilitation in the aftermath of the Kargil War, the Gujarat and Kashmir earthquakes, the Orissa super-cyclone, the Bihar floods, inter alia. His main interests are in the delivery of basic services to communities who are most difficult to reach – the poorest, the most marginalised, the peripatetic, and those in remote locations.
He has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Shriram College of Commerce, a Master’s in Rural Management from the Institute of Rural Management (IRMA), and is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Policy, also at IRMA. He was awarded the Chevening Gurukul Scholarship by the British Government in 2001, wherein he spent a semester at the London School of Economics studying leadership and development.
Sohini Roychowdhury
GM - Communications & Knowledge Management

Sohini is responsible for leading sustainability-related communications, advocacy and knowledge management among Tata group companies globally as well as for key external stakeholders. She holds a Master of Arts in International Relations from Presidency College, Calcutta and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Strategic Communications from the London School of PR, UK.
Sohini has over 15 years of experience in building and implementing large scale strategies in behaviour change communication, public affairs and evidence based advocacy across India, Bangladesh, Egypt, West Bank/Gaza, Philippines and Nepal. She has previously worked on child rights advocacy and partnerships at the UNICEF India Country Office.
Prior to that she was a communications specialist for a 10-year operations research programme in reproductive health. Her role focused on translating research evidence for policy and programme development funded by USAID, and implemented by Population Council in Asia and the Near East region.
In her spare time she enjoys pursuing Indian classical dance, reading art history and writing poetry.
Shrirang Dhavale

Shrirang’s roles and responsibilities in TSG include disaster response and social development programme management - - planning, deployment and impact assessment.
Prior to joining TSG, Shrirang has worked with TATA Motors to strengthen CSR, sustainability agenda and affirmative action. He also has experience working on human rights, to bring in community perspective in corporate processes, as well as CSR strategy development.
He has held the post of Secretary for the Sumant Moolgaokar Development Foundation, TATA Motors Employees’ Education Trust and TATA Motors Kalasagar. Shrirang has also held the position of the Chair (2013 – 2015), CSR and Affirmative Action Panel, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Pune. He’s worked for over eleven years with ActionAid International – in Orissa, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh; and on disaster response - Tsunami (Andaman and Nicobar), Earthquake (Gujarat), Floods (Maharashtra) and drought (Rajasthan). He is a member of the National Committee on Affirmative Action (CII).
Shrirang holds an MA (Urban and Rural Community Development) from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences.
His hobbies are badminton, long distance driving and listening to music.
Abhishek Goyal

Abhishek is a part of the Environment Services team at TSG. He has a Master's degree in Environment Economics and Management from University of York, UK, and a Master's degree in Business Administration from Indore University.
Prior to joining TSG, Abhishek was with McKinsey & Company as an Analytics Specialist in their Sustainability and Resource Productivity practice. He has significant experience in the area of greenhouse gas (GHG) abatement cost curves for countries, cities and corporations. He has also worked with Ernst & Young's Climate Change and Sustainability Services, where he was working on developing carbon reducing projects under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the Kyoto Protocol. Abhishek has also worked on multiple projects related to sustainability reporting advisory, assurance, training and capacity building programmes across varied industry sectors.
Manjula Sriram
Sr. Manager - Community Services & Volunteering

Manjula is part of the community services team at TSG. One of her key responsibilities is the Tata Group volunteering program, Tata Engage. She believes that Sustainability is everybody's business.
Prior to joining TSG, she worked as a strategy consultant with Tata Strategic Management Group, addressing top-of-the-mind concerns of CXOs. She has diverse experience across strategy formulation, portfolio diversification & review, organisation redesign, strategic sourcing and supply chain optimisation. While at Tata Strategic, Manjula helped develop a collective CSR agenda for the Tata Group and helped dimension the Tata skill development initiative – Tata STRIVE.
Manjula holds a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology from SNDT University and a Master's degree in business administration from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta.
She enjoys travelling and reading.
Kinjal Jain

Kinjal drives implementation of the group level volunteering programme - Tata Engage, and provides support to TSG’s community services vertical in undertaking research for CSR strategy development for group companies who seek support.
A development sector professional, Kinjal has over five years of experience and expertise in business development, strategy development, project management, volunteer management and stakeholder engagement. Kinjal provided consulting services to many education non-profits, particularly in forming long-term strategies and implementation plans to execute them.
Kinjal holds a Bachelors of Commerce in Banking and Insurance from KC College, Diploma in Advertising and Public relations from Welingkar Institute of Management Studies and a Masters in Commerce from University of Mumbai.
Her hobbies are reading fiction, swimming and travelling.
Aahna Srikanth

Aahna is a member of the Disaster Response team at Tata Sustainability Group. Her roles and responsibilities include coordinating response programmes and building company capabilities to respond to disasters.
Aahna holds a BA (Hons) degree in Geography from Delhi University and has completed her MA in Disaster Management from Tata Institute of Social Sciences. She has worked in the field of disaster risk reduction for over five years. Prior to working at TSG, she has worked with RedR India and has disaster response experience in Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir and Bihar.

He serves as a non-executive member of Walgreens Boots Alliance Advisory Panel for Sustainability and was Chairman of the Corporate Responsibility Group, the UK's practitioner network and emerging professional body for those working in the field of corporate responsibility and sustainability. Aligned to this he was also a board trustee director at Business in the Community, the UK’s leading business-led issue-focused charity. Yogesh also served as a Trustee of BBC Children in Need and BBC Wildlife Fund.

Before joining Tata Sons, she was a Senior Manager in Deloitte Consulting’s Sustainability and Climate Change group, where she worked for five 5 years.
At Deloitte and while working at ICF Consulting and GHD Consulting, she worked with major retailers, consumer goods companies, federal, state, and local governments, and small start-ups to measure and manage environmental and sustainability issues and conduct carbon inventories, and life cycle assessments. She also serves on the advisory board of the Nature Generation.
Sarah holds a Master’s in Environmental Management from Yale University with a focus on Industrial Environmental Management, and a Bachelor’s of Science from James Madison University in Integrated Science and Technology.
She enjoys hiking, traveling, and kayaking in her leisure time.

Dr. Paul handles a combination of political & technical roles, including liaison with regional/national policymakers & regulators; maintaining & improving management systems to ensure compliance with environment & climate change related legislation; provision of technical advice and resources to improve environmental performance, including energy efficiency.
Originally from South Wales in the UK, he has a B.Eng (Hons) in Biochemical Engineering from Swansea University; a Ph.D in Energy Conservation/Heat Transfer from the University of the West of England in Bristol, and an MBA from Warwick University. He is a Chartered Engineer, a Chartered Environmentalist and a Member of the Institute of Chemical Engineers.
A member and past Chairman of the World Steel Association Environment Committee, he is also a past Chairman of the Eurofer Environment Committee. He currently is a member of the Tata Sons Sustainability Steering Committee and the Eurofer Climate Change Committee.
In addition to his role at Tata Steel, Dr.Paul was previously a Director of the Business Council for Sustainable Development (BCSD) UK and is currently a Director of Ravenscraig Limited; a JV between Tata Steel, Scottish Enterprise & Wilson Bowden, set up in order to redevelop & regenerate the former Ravenscraig steelworks site in Scotland. He is also a past president of the Lincolnshire Iron & Steel Institute.
He is a keen rugby fan, plays cricket as an all-rounder, and collects used and antiquarian books.
